I was out mining for gold and had to pull a boulder from the hole I was digging in. The way the rock looked, I assumed it was rounded in nature. Turns out it was more like an egg shape so when I pulled it out it became much heavier than I anticipated. The rock fell along with my hand and it smashed my fingernail right on my pickaxe!!! The result was blood pooling under my fingernail in what is called a subungual hematoma. These things hurt SO SO BAD!!!! Legit kept me up all night, could not sleep more than a few minutes. The pain led me to do something I’ve never done before… DIY surgery! I sterilized and heated up a paper clip and burned right through my nail to relieve the pressure of the blood below. The result was INSTANT relief. It took a few weeks for the nail to fall off and it never got infected. I did however wash it and soak it twice a day in soapy water. I hope this video helps people out there who have blood under the nail and need to know how to relieve the pressure! Also, my new YouTube channel all about gold mining is here
